Kim Clark, Death Obituary:
The Onalaska, Wisconsin community is mourning the sudden death of Kim Clark, a 41-year-old third-grade teacher at Irving Pertzsch Elementary School, who was killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision on State Highway 93. Her passing has left students, staff, families, and residents deeply shaken.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash occurred near the intersection of Highway 93 and County Road OT when a southbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck Clark’s northbound car head-on. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. Authorities say the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no students were in either vehicle.
Clark, who had taught at Irving Pertzsch Elementary for about 15 years, was widely regarded as a passionate and caring educator. She earned her degrees in elementary education and reading literacy before joining the school, where she quickly became known for her commitment to helping young students build confidence and develop a love of learning.
Colleagues described her as a dedicated teacher who supported both students and fellow staff members, often going out of her way to assist others in and outside the classroom. She was especially known for creating a welcoming environment where children felt encouraged and valued.
Former students and families have shared tributes recalling her patience, encouragement, and lasting influence on their lives. Many said she played a key role in their academic growth and personal confidence during their early school years.
Outside of teaching, Clark was active in her community, volunteering at local organizations and participating in school and youth programs. Those who knew her personally described her as kind, dependable, and deeply committed to helping others.
The school district has brought in grief counselors and support services for students and staff. A memorial has also formed outside the school, where community members have left flowers, notes, and tokens of remembrance.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Dickinson Family Funeral Home, with visitation and services scheduled in the coming days. The family has requested privacy as they mourn, and has encouraged donations to the school’s library fund and local food pantry in her honor.
As investigators continue to examine the crash, the community is remembering Kim Clark not only for how she died, but for the lasting impact she made in her classroom and throughout Onalaska.
